“More on 6X Nutrition”

Here are three additional considerations about the sample 6X eating plan described in the previous post.

First, I didn’t include everything I typically consume in a given day.  The most important omission was water.  I generally drink between 3 and 4 quarts daily.  (I use an eSpring water purification system on tap water.)

I also typically have 2 cups of green tea first thing in the morning.  [Tazo’s Zen tea is my favorite.]  Except when I’m on vacation, I always take a nap in the early afternoon, which I usually follow with an XS energy drink and some walnuts or unsalted cashews.

Second, you might wonder how this is a diet our Stone Age ancestors would have used.  Of course, they had no such diet available to them.

On the other hand, as I’ve previously mentioned, the foods from the wild plants and the flesh from the wild animals they ate are no longer available to us.  Therefore, the best we can do is to try to mimic the macro-nutrient percentages they consumed.  (The “macro-nutrients” are just proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.)  A 6X diet similar to the one I suggested does that.  It’s rich in good fats and proteins from natural sources, and it’s low in carbs and those carbs come largely from unprocessed sources.  Furthermore, it’s practical and easy-to-follow.

Third, here’s a caution about switching from a 3X to a 6X eating plan.  On a 3X plan, there can often be 5 or 6 hours between meals and, realizing that, it’s easy to load up on food in an effort to carry you all the way through to the next meal.  Well, if you approach each meal on a 6X eating plan that way, all you’ll do is double your caloric intake!

Therefore, when you are beginning to follow a 6X eating plan, remind yourself at the beginning of each meal that it will only be 180 minutes or so until your next feeding.  That’s not enough time to get hungry after a nutritious meal.  So, there’s no reason to load up on food each time you eat.
